the Covenants

Serving on the Worship & Production Team, in any capacity, means serving a vital part of the body of Christ. Getting to lead people into God's presence is one of the most special, rewarding, and challenging ministries you'll ever be part of. We don't take that lightly — not only because serving others matters deeply, but because doing this with God is genuinely incredible.
That's what this covenant is about. It's not a checklist of rules — it's a commitment to the heart posture behind everything we do on this team: humility, heart, honour, hosting God's presence, and living holy lives. Because how we serve matters just as much as what we do.

As a member of the Production & Worship Team, I commit to honour God, serve others, and shepherd the people in my group. Recognising the responsibility of this role, I commit to uphold and be an example of the Christ Church Peckham values of:

HUMILITY

I commit to lay down my life for others, the way Jesus laid down his life for me.
Philippians 2:3-5 — Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves; look also to the interests of others, having the same mind as Christ Jesus.
  • I will prioritise serving over being served, following Jesus' example.  (Mark 10:43-45)
  • I will be patient, gentle, and quick to forgive, fostering a safe and supportive community. (Ephesians 4:2-3)
  • I will recognise and affirm the gifts and contributions of others. (1 Peter 4:10)

HEART

I commit to loving the Lord with all my heart and loving my neighbour as myself.
Matthew 16:24 — Jesus tells his disciples that anyone who wants to follow him must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow — losing his life for Jesus' sake in order to find it.
  • I will choose to trust God's strength rather than seek easy ways out when facing difficulty or discomfort. (James 1:2–4)
  • I will approach every task, even the hard or unnoticed ones, as service to God, working diligently as an act of worship. (Colossians 3:23–24)
  • I will surrender every part of my life to God, allowing Him to transform my thoughts, habits, and choices to reflect His will. (Romans 12:1–2)

HONOUR

I commit to see the best, believe the best and draw out the best in those around me.
Romans 12:10 — Love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honour.
  • I will love, listen, and care for the community as Christ did, seeking the 'gold' in each person. (John 13:34-35)
  • I will pray regularly for the needs of group members and the growth of the group. (Ephesians 6:18)
  • I will encourage spiritual growth and discipleship, pointing members to Scripture. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

HOST

I commit to host the presence of God wherever I go.
Matthew 10:8 — Jesus instructs his followers to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and cast out demons — giving freely as they have received freely.
  • I will offer to pray in faith for those who are hurting physically, emotionally, or spiritually, trusting God to bring healing and wholeness. (Mark 16:17–18)
  • I will carry God's peace, love, and righteousness into my home, workplace, and relationships so others experience His presence through my conduct. (Matthew 5:14-16)
  • I will cultivate intimacy with God through prayer, worship, and attentiveness, remembering He is always with me. (Psalm 16:8)
“We can’t do any of this without God so let’s commit to a life well lived in the presence of a Father in heaven who loves you, more thank you could think or imagine.”

HOLY

I commit to live a life of integrity and Godly character.
1 Peter 1:15-16 — As the One who called you is holy, so be holy yourselves in all your conduct, for it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."
  • I will pursue a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:15)
  • I will model Christ-like behaviour in speech, actions, and attitudes. (1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:7-8; 1 Peter 5:2-3)
  • I will pursue purity in body and mind, denying the desires of the flesh and submitting to God's intended design. (Titus 2:7–8, Galatians 5:19-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5; Genesis 2:24)

Covenant Closing Statement + Scripture References

I understand that this covenant reflects not only the expectations of my role but also my calling to serve Christ through His church. I commit to lead faithfully, love sincerely, and serve humbly, trusting God to guide and strengthen me in this ministry.

  • Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

  • And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.

  • You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

  • Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

  • Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

  • I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

  • Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

  • Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

  • Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

  • Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an examplefor the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

  • Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

  • Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;  not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

  • In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

  • The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions  and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  • It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;

  • That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
